The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti has responded to the criticism of the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo about the energy crisis, for which he said that they are working to find the best solution to have a stable supply but also to alleviate the energy crisis.
He said that they are working on this together with the line ministers, KEK, KOSTT and ERO, while emphasizing that the issue of energy crisis has been addressed at the last meeting of the government.
Kurti said that electricity prices on the stock exchange have multiplied and a favorable situation can not remain in Kosovo either.
“The distribution network and production facilities in Kosovo have become obsolete and depreciated, while energy consumption has increased. Suppose today at 9 o’clock in the morning we were trying at full capacity somewhere around 760 megawatts, while energy consumption at 9 o’clock in the morning was 1 thousand 113 megawatts. So, the consumption is extremely high both because of the winter season and because our way of both work and residence and living is organized around heating through thermal power plants, but that I also believe because electricity is cheap and consumption is convenient. Now when the demand increases and the capacities are fragile, of course the situation worsens, but together with the line ministers, KEK, KOSTT, ERO we are working to find the best solution, so that we have “Sustainable supply, but at the same time to alleviate the energy crisis in which we are not alone,” he said.
