The Member of the British Parliament, sent for Trade for the Western Balkans, Martin Vickers is paying a visit to Kosovo. He was also received at the meeting by the Prime Minister, Albin Kurti.
Kurti stressed that the United Kingdom is an indispensable partner of Kosovo, where he expressed his gratitude for the help and support that the United Kingdom has shown before, during and after the war. In this meeting, Kurti also spoke about the Law on Commercial Court, saying that this law will increase security for investors and businesses.
“The democratic elections of the first year brought legitimacy and institutional stability,” Kurti was quoted as saying in a meeting with Vickers, adding that “this helps a lot and is resulting in increased economic cooperation, trade and investment.”
The communiqué from the Prime Minister’s Office states that Vickers praised the actions of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in fighting corruption. The fact that Prime Minister Johnson has appointed an envoy to the Western Balkans shows that we take the region very seriously, Mr Vickers said.
“Even though we are no longer part of the European Union, rest assured that we will continue to stay close to them and help,” he said. Regarding the possibilities of increasing economic cooperation between the two countries, the Prime Minister highlighted the potential of the great diaspora that Kosovo has in the United Kingdom and that they can be a bridge.
Prime Minister Kurti said that the Law on Commercial Court will increase security for investors and businesses. He singled out the potential of our country in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), wood and metal processing and agriculture and the possibilities of connecting the education system with the labor market, through a developed dual education system.
Talking about dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister stressed that two thirds of the population over the age of 16 are already vaccinated, while vaccination continues with the boosting dose.
