In honor of the 14th anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence, the assembly held a solemn session. But while the Prime Minister was delivering a speech in the rostrum of the Assembly, the opposition deputies left the hall.
They left the hall as Prime Minister Kurti spoke about the work of the Government.
“We are a democratic state, our constitution protects freedom of expression and free speech, just as it protects freedom. Rally and protest. As the Prime Minister of the country I understand and accept that people will say all sorts of things every day about me and I will defend their right to do so. Because our fight for freedom was not only a fight to be liberated from occupation but also to live free. So we have fought to protect the right of everyone to express her and his views even when we do not agree with them. And yet to move forward we need a practical thought and not just a critical one. We need to agree and find consensus on the most basic things[…]that is, unity which does not make criticism impossible and criticism that does not ride on unity “, said Kurti.
And the Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, intervenes as the deputies made noise to oppose Kurti’s speech.
“Please behave with dignity, it is the day of independence”, said Konjufca.
