Prompted by Europe Day, the Prime Minister of Kosovo said that a commitment is needed to protect and accelerate the integration of Kosovo and the entire Western Balkans into the EU.
He said that Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova should be included here.
“These values are being defended in Ukraine today. There, in the face of an aggressor and despotic occupier, the idea of a free and united Europe is being defended. “It is on this day that we must pledge to protect and accelerate the European Union project by integrating Kosovo, the entire Western Balkans and all peace-loving European states that embrace our common values, including Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova,” he wrote. The Prime Minister added that “Kosovo is the most democratic country in the Western Balkans.”
“We believe in a democracy that fights autocrats, in a rule of law that fights corruption, and in a developed economy that enhances the well-being of all,” he said. Today, May 9, Europe Day, said Kurti, we remember the statement of French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman.
We remember the ideas and ideals of the founders of the European Union who after the devastation brought about by two world wars realized that peace, in order to be lasting, must be linked to justice, equality, cooperation and the possibility of a better life; that integration and interdependence bring more gains and opportunities than rivalry and opposition.
