Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was forced to cancel his trip to Serbia today after a number of surrounding countries barred his plane from entering their airspace.

He added that his Serbian counterpart had been invited to Moscow and that he “hoped that his trip would not be hindered”. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that such actions could cause problems with the schedule of high-level diplomatic meetings.
However, they will not prevent Moscow from maintaining contacts with friendly countries, he said.
