The prices of essential products in Kosovo have continued to increase. This Wednesday, the price of oil has gone up to two euros, from 1.20 as it was two days ago.
In addition, Kosovo is facing a shortage of flour, especially in shops. However, according to the Kosovo Mills Association, there are reserves for another three months, and the price is unknown if it will change.
“We have reasonable and sufficient flour and wheat in Kosovo, this does not mean that after June we will not make another solution or that there is no solution until then”, says the president of the Mills Association, Bashkim Zejnullahu.
Regarding the situation created, the Government of Kosovo has allocated 50 million euros subsidy for farmers.
“Spring fertilizer inputs will be subsidized in the amount of 150 euros per hectare for wheat and 100 euros per hectare for corn, beans and potatoes.” said the Minister of Agriculture, Faton Peci.
Farmers will also be subsidized for oil.
“The Government of the Republic of Kosovo will subsidize the price of oil for farmers in the amount of five million euros. Therefore, from 36 cents per liter, oil will be subsidized for all crops “, said the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
The crisis created and the ban on exports from the countries from which Kosovo imports the most will lead to increases in the prices of other products.
“It could be animal feed that would affect farmers, it could be the price of gas, it could have an impact and fluctuations in the price of metals“, Says the president of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce.
Currently in Kosovo the price of oil has reached 1.82 cents, bread is sold for 50 cents and the price of flour is expected to change.
