Kosovo continues to remain the only country in the region without visa liberalization.
In addition to the lack of free movement in the Schengen area, now citizens of Kosovo have to wait for months to set a date for applying for a tourist visa. According to Schengen visa info, this is happening due to multiple requests.
In the embassies where there is a greater flow of citizens who apply, the waiting times are long.
Through phone calls and online research for setting a deadline for applying for a tourist visa, we have learned that until the middle of September there is no free deadline for applying at the German Embassy, and after that time, the application will be made through a company that has contracted embassies. Meanwhile, citizens who want to travel to Switzerland can apply for a tourist visa only at the end of August, since there is no free period until then. However, at the Italian embassy in Kosovo, there are vacancies even during the month of July.
Citizens say that they have waited for the appointment at the German embassy for up to six months, in other embassies they have waited a month.
The embassies have accelerated other procedures for visas, according to the citizens, within a week they have received answers from the relevant embassies.
