Vucic said he could gain nationalist points with his response after the elections are held for 3 months in Serbia, but said he would do something else. Pointing out that his election is calm and rational, Vucic said that despite differing views, there is no reason why a country should not become part of the Open Balkans.
Vucic: I believe we have responded to this on various occasions. The elections will be held in Serbia for 3 months and it will be easy for me to respond directly harshly to gain nationalist points within my country. I will surprise you with my choice that it will be extremely calm, rational and I will try to explain and once again why we are doing all this. We have different views on Kosovo. Serbia, Albania, Northern Macedonia have different views and this is not a reason why we should not talk and why someone should not be part of the Open Balkans.
Among other things, he said he does not consider it productive to invite someone from Pristina but emphasizes that they are ready to work with everyone within the Open Balkans. Vuçiç repeated Rama’s words to all those who do not accept this initiative, saying: “They will simply waste time. “There is no need to beg anyone because this initiative has only benefits.”
Vucic: Let’s talk about the essence, will it be easier for Albanians and Serbs if there was no border or queue for people to move freely? This creates endless problems. I do not believe that there is anyone in Pristina, Mitrovica, Tirana or Belgrade who would not agree with what I say. I do not think it is productive to invite you because when I invite someone from Prishtina, they will say since he makes the invitation, they will not come. Whether we will resolve the status of the political issue is within the jurisdiction of the dialogue in Brussels. In terms of economic issues and freedoms of movement of goods and people, we are ready to work together within the Open Balkans and we have no problem with that. People who do not accept this initiative, I repeat what Edi said: They will simply waste time. There is no need to beg anyone because this initiative has only benefits.
If the issue is who burns more flags, we are against, we are here to build bridges and the people in Belgrade and Northern Macedonia will be happy with this cooperation.
