The incumbent Prime Minister of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti said that during March the first anti-COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in Kosovo.
Kosovo will benefit from over 100 thousand doses of COVAX vaccine.
In a post on social media, Hoti stressed that the Kosovo authorities are currently conducting intensive negotiations with other manufacturers of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine to ensure the necessary number of them.
“During this month, the first contingent of 33 thousand doses of COVAX vaccine is expected to arrive. From this mechanism Kosovo will benefit 100 thousand 800 doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine, while intensive negotiations are underway with other manufacturers to provide the necessary number of vaccines in order to fully immunize the population.“, He said.
Hoti made this statement in a meeting with the Minister of Health, Armend Zemaj, the director of the National Institute of Public Health (NIPHK) Naser Ramadani and the director of the University Clinical Hospital Service of Kosovo (SHSKUK) Valbon Krasniqi, where they talked about the epidemiological situation in place.
“As the country is facing a new wave of outbreaks of the COVID-19 pandemic, we demanded the maintenance of the measures in force and their full observance. “Meanwhile, health institutions are working intensively to increase capacity, provide medicines and increase the number of medical staff.”, wrote Hoti.
The meeting also called for increased commitment to the prevention, management and control of COVID-19 infection by municipal staffs, Police and the Veterinary and Food Agency in Kosovo (KVFA), and called on citizens to respect all measures for further prevention of the virus.
In Kosovo yesterday with 591 new cases, a record number of people infected with COVID-19 was recorded within 24 hours for 2021, while their number went to a total of 71,344 cases.
