From August, all citizens who are equipped with identification devices issued by Serbia will have to temporarily give up those documents on the border with Kosovo.
This measure of reciprocity has been decided to be implemented by the Government of Kosovo, enabling citizens to be provided with a declaration sheet that enables them to circulate within its territory.
The executive has also issued an ultimatum for license plates to the citizens of the North of the country. From August until September 30, they must replace the illegal license plates with those of the RKS, otherwise the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be forced to act.
This institution will issue an administrative instruction through which it will specify the duration of reciprocity for ID cards and details of measures against citizens who refuse to change the registration plates.
The decision on reciprocity is based on the July 2011 agreement, but which Kosovo had never implemented, and now this has alarmed the Serbian authorities.
Immediately after the decision of the Government of Kosovo for reciprocity towards Serbia for ID cards and license plates, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuçi reag reacted, according to him, the Government of Kosovo with this decision will expel the northern Serbs, while saying that they will have a measured response. but that will be deadly.
These statements were not commented by the EU envoy in Belgrade, but Miroslav Lajçak said that this decision of Kosovo complicates the dialogue process.
“I came to the region to prepare for the next meeting of leaders and to talk about the progress and normalization of relations, now we have to resolve this situation. “We must not allow a crisis to happen,” Lajcak said
Along with these decisions, the Government on Wednesday decided to continue with the application of adhesive papers on the license plates of vehicles entering from Kosovo to Kosovo, until October.
