All the wars in the world so far have not spared the lives of journalists. The latter is no exception in Ukraine.
A British Sky News crew has been found under a barrage of Russian bullets.
Journalist Stuart Ramsay and cameraman were injured.
Although under the barrage of guns, they did not turn off the camera which fixed the attack that could have cost the lives of the entire team of 5 people, Sky News.
This is the moment when they were attacked.
Veteran Sky News reporter Stuart Ramsay says they were traveling to the city of Bucha, where a convoy of Russian army was destroyed by Ukrainian forces. A trusted source says the English journalist told us it was quiet in Bucha and promised to show us the destroyed Russian convoy.
Although Bucha is 30 kilometers away from Kiev says Stuart Ramsay it took us a few hours to get there.
“It simply came to our notice then. It is fair to say that this calmness bothered us. Suddenly I saw that the car was hit and the tire was punctured. We hurried to stop. The world turned us upside down. The first bursts pierced the car window. Operator Richie Mockler lowered his body under the front of the car sideways. We were all under attack. “The whole car was riddled with bullets,” said the Sky News journalist.
That moment tells Stuar Ramsay, we had no idea where the attack came from. We were later told by Ukrainian soldiers that we had been ambushed by a group of Russians, known as saboteurs, tasked with spying on the military formations that followed.
The English journalist continues the terrifying story, explaining that the attack on them was by professionals.
“Our car was torn to pieces, not escaping any of the bullets aimed at us. “In those moments, I started to think if my death would be full of pain,” he said.
Ramsay recounts the terrifying experience of this attack.
“I was shot in the lower back. I started shouting. I hit I hit. The cameraman was standing inside the car injured. “When the attack ended, the five of us asked each other in complete disbelief how we managed to survive.”
