The Albanian artist, Gjon Muharremaj, known by the stage name Gjon’s Tears, gave a strong message this evening on “A live night” on Top Channel.
He said that honesty is the most important value in his life, because being honest, speaking with your eyes and what you say is less important than what you express through your eyes.
The singer said that the thing he would never forget are the eyes of his grandmother, who saw the horrors of the war in Kosovo.
He gave this statement based on his past experience in Switzerland, where he was prejudiced for speaking, stressing that this does not happen in Albania or Kosovo.
“I believe in many values, but my most important value I believe when I was younger was respect, the most important for me and I understood it when I met people and it was more complicated to talk to me, I did not have the same education. In Switzerland, the French language is spoken in one way, and when you don’t speak like that it’s not a problem, but people judge, whereas in Albania and Kosovo they don’t have this problem. I have always spoken constantly, so I mix Albanian, Tuscan and Gaelic. In Switzerland they prejudice your speech. There are people who can’t say what they think they haven’t learned the words. At that moment the value of honesty came, if there is no honesty there is nothing for me, the most important thing is to say things to others even when you don’t have the words. I have learned this because I believe the most important thing is the eyes. The eyes of people, I will never forget the eyes of my grandmother, who has seen everything, who has lost children, has seen war, the moment when you don’t speak is much more valuable than wordst”, said John.
We remind you that Gjoni is a singer and composer, who was born and built his career in Switzerland.
He managed to represent Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song “Répondez-moi” before the cancellation of the contest due to the pandemic.
The artist was selected again for 2021 with his song “Tout l’Univers” and finished in third place with 432 points, the best ranking for Switzerland since 1993.
