Today in the ‘soap opera’ of the trial of Johnny Depp against his ex-wife Amber Heard, a clinical psychologist appeared to testify that Amber Heard has “psychological disorder of character change” as well as “histrionic personality disorder”.
Legal doctor Dr. Shannon Curry hired by the American actor group said she had reached her conclusions after about 12 hours of examinations of the actress in two sessions on 10 and 17 December 2021, in preparation of the case.
“There is evidence of these diagnoses in her records and in her own reports,” Curry told the jury.
Following Curry’s testimony the court had taken a break to assess the case, saying the doctor could be called back to testify after the trial resumed.
Curry is also a licensed physician for couples therapy known as the “Gottman Method”, which is a research approach to help repair relationships in the couple.
She was initially brought to court by Depp’s legal team to discuss details falling into the realm of “intimate partner violence”, but was later asked to make other psychological assessments.
Amber Heard’s lawyer opposed the line of her questionnaire, which according to the media had made prosecutor Johnny Depp laugh several times in court.
Lawyers also questioned Ben King, the caretaker of Depp’s home, about a quarrel between the couple in 2015 in Australia, where the actor was left with a broken finger.
Allegations of violence by Depp were quickly rejected by Heard’s lawyers, which was accepted by Judge Penney Azcarate.
The trial continues.
