Rabbi Moshe Yazdi in a small community in Jerusalem used his religious leadership to heal female believers by raping them.
The priest and charity has already been charged with raping at least seven believers, claiming he could “purify them of their sins”.
He had also embezzled significant amounts of money from women, local police reported.
Moshe Yazdi, 59, was the rabbi of the Amudei Hashalom community in Jerusalem, where he also ran a non-profit charity.
But as it turns out already, the once respected rabbi has committed heinous acts for a decade and was arrested last month.
As the daily writes Times of Israelhe was formally charged this week with rape, shameful acts and sexual assault through manipulation.
The attacks on women had occurred during his daily lectures.
Taking advantage of believers who were new to religious teachings, he is accused of telling them that “they had to give up intellectual thought or personal feelings” in order to “submit” to his will.
The indictment also alleges that he persuaded the victims that their sins had left “sparks of impurity” within them, which could only be ‘cleansed’ by having sex with the rabbi.
Yazdi is believed to have committed acts of rape against several women on their wedding day, convincing them that they had “a special spirit” so they could not tell anyone what had happened.
Meanwhile thousands of Israeli shekels were transferred to the various bank accounts of the manipulative rabbi and his associates.
His last sexual assault had occurred less than a year ago.
The Israeli daily Haaretz says Yazdi had been banned from teaching or advising women since 2004, following several complaints against him.
In ultra-religious Jewish communities, rabbinical trials are used more than the secular court on the moral side, even though they have no power of arrest or imprisonment.
Believers follow the word of a well-known rabbi more than the word of the police, but this did not happen in the case of Yazdi, unfortunately for him.
