Even this year, on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Epopee of the Kosovo Liberation Army, the “hand” of the state is missing in preserving and conserving the towers of Jashari so that they do not collapse.
23 years since the battle and the glorious sacrifice of the legendary commander Adem Jashari, the citizens expressed their anger with the institutions for the negligence they have done to the towers of Jashari. While the responsibilities from the Agency for the Management of Memorial Complexes refused to speak.
Faruk Rexha, who came from the Municipality of Viti to honor the Jashari family says for KosovaPress that the miserable condition of the towers is due to the negligence of the institutions.
“The institutions had to deal with this. Unfortunately they have not worked enough so far. More work had to be done especially on the historical monuments that need to be repaired, it is for future generations. “Since the situation is miserable, all the blame lies with the institutions,” he said.
The most critical of the institutions was expressed by Selman Sylejmani, who says that he can not see this miserable condition of the towers anywhere.
“Here the state has neglected everything. This place should have been made in flowers, but it is still a misery to see these towers in this condition. “This country, here only the eye can see, because in a miserable condition you can not see even in Africa”, he declares.
Regarding this situation, the guide who is engaged by the Agency for the Management of Memorial Complexes refused to speak.
But Xhevat Imeri described the Jashari family’s sacrifice for the country’s freedom in 1998.
“Everything is connected around this country and this family. When I say this, it is that blood was shed in Prekaz, but also the place from which the freedom of Kosovo came[…]was the family that sacrificed even the most sacred with the sole purpose of the freedom of Kosovo. “Considering the first attack that happened in 1991 and the second attack on January 22, 1998 when the family had the opportunity to withdraw but decided to stay and make the resistance even stronger”, he says.
The details about the battle that took place 23 years ago for KosovaPress were revealed by Selman Sylejmani.
“On March 9, I entered this tower here and found it ruined and worse. We were saddened by the tragedy and genocide that the Serb committed in this country unjustly. “But we are proud of the Jashari family,” he said.
The conservation of the Jashari towers is scheduled to start in 2019 through a government decision. While in 2018 he had approved the Law on the Adem Jashari Complex.
