Japan has approved the administration of the Pfizer vaccine to children aged 5-11.
The authorization was given by the Ministry of Health, while until now the vaccine was administered from the age of 12 and above.
Local media write that the vaccination of this age group, which will start in March this year, will include eight million children in the first phase.
Pfizer had applied for vaccination authorization for children 5-11 years old in Japan in November 2021.
