The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, on Friday for two hours and thirty minutes was interrogated by the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the January 8 protest, called by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
In his speech to reporters, Basha said that the perpetrators of the protest violence should be brought to justice, further underlining that Sali Berisha for his selfishness and personal interests is destroying the DP.
He stressed that the Democrats were called to be used as a facade and only a very small part responded to the call of former Prime Minister Berisha, who also distanced themselves from acts of violence.

The interrogation of Basha and Bardhi comes a day after Sali Berisha and Flamur Noka gave their statements about the January 8 protest. After leaving the Prosecution, Berisha stated yesterday that he had informed the investigators about what he calls Lulzim Basha’s gang inside the headquarters.
According to him, there were armed people in the building that day and the weapons were removed with the car of the leader of the Democratic Party. He again accused Basha of being a hostage of Rama, as he once again warned of strong protests.
He did not specify a date for the next protest, but meanwhile declared the resumption of meetings with citizens that will start on Sunday from Shkodra.
