The German newspaper Die Welt has hired Russian journalist Marina Ovsyannikova as its correspondent, who cut short a live broadcast on Channel One after appearing on a poster that read: “Stop the war, do not trust the propaganda, they are lying to you.”
The news was confirmed by the owner of Die Welt, Axel Springer.
On March 14, Ovsyannikova stopped broadcasting live on Channel One in protest of the war in Ukraine, and was immediately arrested, interrogated, and released after being fined.
At the time, Ovsyannikova said her action came because she did not like the propaganda of Vladimir Putin’s government.
“You know, first of all, I want to tell everyone: the Russian people are really against the war. “It’s Putin’s war, not the Russian people’s war.” she told presenter George Stephanopoulos on “This Week” on ABC.
