Italy will soon announce the dates for the lifting of restrictions on COVID-19 as the wave of pandemics caused by the Omicron variant has begun to ease, said Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
Italy has reported more than 147,000 coronavirus-related deaths and 11.23 million infected since the epidemic began two years ago.
Many restrictions, including traffic, on bars and restaurants have already been eased for those vaccinated. Wearing masks is mandatory outside. “In the coming weeks we will continue on that path of reopening. “Based on scientific evidence, we will announce the schedule for lifting the current restrictions,” Draghi said at a cabinet meeting, according to his office.
More than 80 percent of Italians received two doses of the vaccine and more than 57 percent received a third booster dose. Draghi said COVID-19 certifications will be valid indefinitely for those who have received the third dose of the vaccine. Confirmation is required for most activities.
The government eased quarantine for vaccinated students on Wednesday.
