At least two people have been killed and seven others missing after a natural gas explosion in the southern Italian city of Ravanusa.
Local media report that the explosion most likely was caused by a gas leak from the installation. The powerful blast destroyed three houses and severely damaged three others.
Two people were left dead in one of the dilapidated houses and two were pulled out of the rubble.
Fire crews have extinguished the fire that broke out after the explosion and are continuing the search for seven people who are missing.
Italgaz initially said there were no indications of a gas leak in the Sicilian city, while Civil Defense said it was the gas leak that caused the explosion.
