In Gjirokastra, a 10-day cycle of celebrations has started within the week of Italian language and culture, a tradition that has started since 2001.
The celebrations opened with Gazmend Koçollari’s painting exhibition “Under the Silence of Light” and were followed in the evening by the music of the jazz band Motel Kaiju directed by Niccolo Faraci.
A documentary dedicated to the evident traces of Italian architecture was shown to those present at the city castle.
Also present at the opening of the activities was the Consul General of Italy in Vlora, Mrs. Iva Palmieri
“We are in Gjirokastra for another year of joint celebrations in the week of Italian culture. This is a very warm city that has welcomed us constantly. We greatly appreciate the perennial cultural exchange and what our peoples share with each other. “Exchanges are already effective in culture, education, science, business and the arts.” said Iva Palmieri
In the coming days there will be screenings of Italian short films, music events and screenings of children’s groups.
The activities will conclude on June 10 with the inauguration of the new city theater which will bring on stage a joint drama of the Gjirokastra and Puglia troupe.
