Italian police have arrested a wanted mafia killer after the fugitive appeared in Google Maps satellite imagery.
The British daily Telegraph, wrote that Gioacchino Gammino was convicted of murder and escaped from prison 20 years ago, before being discovered in Spain.
He thought he had escaped detectives after two decades on the run, but shrewd cops managed to catch him.
Gammino, 60, lived a quiet life in Spain where he opened a fruit and vegetable shop with a false name.
But detectives who had tracked him down were able to confirm the location using Google Maps images, they told the media.
A picture of the wanted criminal showed him outside the grocery store in the town of Galapagar north of Madrid.
His shop was called El Huerto de Manu – (Manu Garden), since Gammino had changed his name to Manuel since settling in Spain.
The photos on the official Facebook page show the fugitive in a white dress from the chef, but they managed to identify him by a special scratch mark on his chin.
Gammino was arrested on December 17 but only yesterday the event was made public.
Gammino was part of the Agrigento mafia clan in Sicily and has been found guilty of a series of crimes such as murder and drug trafficking.
He had escaped from a prison in Rome in 2002 and disappeared without a trace.
