Ukrainian Tatyana Burak survived for 45 days in the besieged city of Mariupol, until she moved to Lviv with her husband.
After the bombing their house was destroyed while her husband was injured. Burak told CNN about her experience in Mariupol, describing it as a horrible experience.
“It was a horrible dream that thousands of people were dreaming at the same time and it had no end. Thus, we spent a lot of time in the hospital because we were wounded right at the beginning of this Russian attack and it took us from our military doctors to the hospital and so we felt every single bomb, every single shell that was going to our city“, Said Burak.
She said that at the beginning of the war Mariupol was “condemned” and that Russian troops occupied the city with the idea that they were there to liberate the Ukrainians.
“We realized that there was nothing to wait for, that our city was doomed because these people came, as they said, to liberate us. They did not know where they were going to free us, but they said that we were suffering and they came to liberate us, they liberated us from our homes, from our jobs, from the wealth of our whole life, from our family. history. They saved thousands of people from their lives. They just do not know. “They seem to be just crazy and insane.”she further added.
Burak said they did not understand what they were doing, or were doing it on purpose only because they wanted to kill everyone.
