A licensed medical cannabis plant is suspected of having a significant amount of the illegal drug in it.
According to the announcement of the Skopje police, the factory located in the village of Orovnik in the municipality of Debërce, from the observation, it was found that it was not in a state of production, as according to the statements from the company, it was renovating the space.
In its external premises, 2388 cannabis plants were found in violation of the conditions established by law for cultivation for medical reasons. The authorities also say that they discovered 1,066 seedlings and hundreds of kilograms of cannabis plants inside the factory premises.
During the police check, they found in the premises of the factory, a person who was legally unemployed and 5 Albanians, employed in the legal entity, but without documents.

On 13.07.2022, the Criminal Police Department-Sector for Illicit Trade in Drugs, Weapons and Dangerous Substances, in coordination with the Commission for Granting Permits for the Cultivation of Cannabis for Medical Purposes and SPB Ohrid, based on the preliminary court order of insured, have raided and checked the legal entity in p. Orovnik, Debërce municipality.
During the raid, it was found that the video surveillance in the entire facility does not work, and 2,388 cannabis plants were found which were cultivated outside the facility, contrary to the conditions provided by the Law, 1,066 cannabis plants, contrary to the number presented of 616 plants. Meanwhile, 820 cannabis plants were found inside the building, although according to the previous information sent to the Commission, the legal entity did not have production, due to the renovation of the building.
Also, in one of the spaces, branches of the cannabis plant were found in the stage of drying and dried flowers, for which they have not informed the Commission until now, while in the safe room, 343 kg of dried cannabis flowers were found, which according to the information represents an excess of 7 kg of unregistered dry cannabis flowers in the room and 269 kg of “sheik”, (cannabis leaves and branches). Also, during the raid in the basement of the legal entity, containers were found that were used for the production of cannabis oil, even though the legal entity in question does not have a permit for the production of this type of oil.
During the control in the facility, one person was spotted who, according to the evidence of the Employment Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is unemployed and 5 citizens of Albania, who were engaged in work in the legal entity, but not registered, for which it is informed the Foreigners Sector at the Department for Border Affairs and Migration and the State Labor Inspectorate and relevant reports will be submitted, as informed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Suzana Pranjiq Talevska.
According to the findings from the control, the legal entity cultivated cannabis for medical purposes in conditions contrary to the rules in several segments, while in relation to the process of cultivation of cannabis for medical purposes, in accordance with the Law on the control of narcotic drugs, on the part of The Commission has been compiled a Report on the situation found, and the Public Prosecutor has also been informed by PTHP Ohrid, according to whose instructions all cases have been seized. After documenting the evidentiary material, PTHP Ohrid will file a criminal report for a criminal offense committed under Article 95-V of the Law on Control of Narcotic Drugs. On the part of the Commission under the Ministry of Health, additional measures will be taken in relation to the legal entity”. informs the Skopje Police.
