Passengers traveling on an Emirates flight to Brisbane, Australia were surprised to notice a large hole in the side of the plane as they disembarked.
Those who were on board the “Airbus A380” from Dubai to the Australian city found out the problem only at the moment of descent after 14 hours of flight.
Images of the plane shared on social networks showed the size of the hole created, while the airline responsible for the flight stated that it was created due to a tire bursting from a “technical fault” during the trip.
“It was absolutely terrifying at first and the cabin crew knew something serious might have happened, they were immediately in contact with the cabin,” wrote Andrew Morris, an English professor at the UK’s Loughborough University.
According to CNN, it is unclear how long the plane was in the air and when the problem may have occurred.
The airline went on to confirm that the plane had landed safely in Australia and passengers had disembarked as planned. The damage to the aircraft’s exterior has since been repaired.
