Israeli soldiers stood in position today during clashes in the town of Azzun, north of the West Bank, after the funeral of a young Palestinian man killed overnight by the army.
Iahya Edvan, 22, was killed during an army operation in the early hours of the morning in the North West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The Israeli army operation came after the killing of a guard of Israeli-inhabited colonies in the West Bank.
The Palestinian militant group Al-Aqsa claimed responsibility for Friday night’s killing.
The Israeli military later said it had made arrests and seized weapons in Brooklyn, and in the Balata refugee camp.
The Palestinian group that carried out the attack is the armed wing of the Fatah movement.
In a statement, they said: “We take responsibility for the operation in the Ariel colony where a Zionist officer was killed in response to violations by the occupying government in Jerusalem.”
