The Israeli army said it killed Amir Raian after he was trying to carry out a knife attack.
A Palestinian youth was killed by the Israeli army on Friday morning in the north West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry said.
The ministry statement said Amir Atef Rayyan from the town of Bani Hassan was shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the town of Salfit.
According to the Israeli army, the young man killed had attempted to carry out a knife attack.
Since the beginning of the year, Israel has killed at least 324 Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, according to the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
The Army of Israel has recently changed its rules for opening fire on occupied West Bank lands by allowing troops to fire on Palestinian protesters who throw stones and other devices at civilians or cars, even if they do not pose an immediate threat.
Under the new rules soldiers can enforce full arrest protocol and stopping fire if Palestinians throw stones or drop Molotov cocktails at vehicles, even when the subject has nothing in hand.
Soldiers were previously allowed to fire in the ‘arrest attempt’ when the perpetrator was committing the act of dropping a stone or artillery bomb with fire.
