German prosecutors have filed an indictment against a woman for membership in the Islamic State terrorist group and for indoctrinating her children through radical Islamic teachings, as well as for trying to recruit new IS members.
The accused and her then 4-year-old daughter traveled to Syria in early December 2014, against the will of the child’s father, prosecutors said.
The woman is also accused of taking her then-6-year-old child to watch a public stoning and showing her child videos of the executions.
The accused allegedly married several members of the Islamic State militant group and bore two sons in Syria, according to the Attorney General’s office. She is also believed to have taken part in the enslavement of some members of the Yazidi community.
The accused was arrested in Syria in early 2019 and spent time in two Kurdish camps with her children.
She was arrested on October 7 when she entered Germany via Frankfurt airport and has been in custody ever since.
Charges against her include crimes against humanity, membership and support for a terrorist organization abroad, recruitment and exposure of minors to danger.
The court in the German city of Celle must decide whether the case should go to trial./REL/
