A 50-year-old giant elephant was seen today in some amazing photos as he enjoyed his old age wandering quietly in the wild African world, permanently guarded by Maasai tribal warriors in reserve, to prevent him from being killed by his ivory teeth. more than 50 kg each.
The elephant was photographed spraying dust to cool off as it trampled vegetation in Kenya’s Amboseli National Park.
The inspirational photos were taken by 59-year-old professional photographer Clint Ralph, who said the half-century-old man is known as Craig.
“He always has Masai guards guarding him from a distance 24 hours a day to prevent him from being attacked by hunters,” says Clint.
Craig’s ivory teeth make him one of only 20 “super ivory” elephants left alive today.
The African Savannah species elephant was born in 1972 and can live up to 70 years, longer than any other mammal other than humans.
“I always try to get something different from the mass of images around the world. “I like the unique sense of both the image and its subject,” says Clint.
“I and others followed him at a distance and learned his movements. “So we thought we’d put some cameras in the usual way he does, hoping he’ll get there, as he actually did.”
Researchers say that elephants have emotional characteristics similar to those of humans, and consequently different characters.
