In one month, 19 policemen are arrested! During June, 50 officers were prosecuted for corruption and abuse of office

The most recent case of police officers caught in violation was recorded on June 30 in Korça, where 3 police officers were suspended from exercising their public function after committing arbitrary actions against a citizen who was arrested a few months ago for not wearing an anti-covid mask but they informed him that they would punish him for some unsolved thefts.

On June 28, a sub-commissioner was arrested by his colleagues who, after hitting a 13-year-old minor with a car, left the scene of the accident and tried to pass the blame to his brother, claiming that he was the last one at the wheel.

The most serious case was the one on June 27, which led to the measure of house arrest 2 under Elbasan Police Directors Albert Nushi and Nikolin Palla as well as 6 active eagles under suspension. They are suspected of the criminal offenses of abuse of office and false declaration in relation to the murder of Pjerin Xhuvan in Elbasan, 4 days before the elections.

Also, 2 border policemen were arrested in Kapshtica and two others were arrested for the criminal offense of abuse of duty and corruption as they allegedly allowed the passage of contraband goods.

While in Shkodër, 2 inspectors and 2 sub-commissioners are suspected of abusing their duties and favoring the cultivation of cannabis. Another inspector was suspended from his job in Lushnja for allowing construction without a permit.

Since the beginning of the year, more than 23,000 complaints about police officers have arrived at the Police Supervision Agency. Law enforcement officers have the highest number of denunciations, followed by those of the traffic police.
