The British government has sent letters to 100 asylum seekers that their asylum application will be reviewed after they have been sent to Rwanda.
The British Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to send the first 30 people to Rwanda through this scheme which aims to curb asylum seeking in England. Tch has learned that there are some Albanians on the first plane that will depart for Rwanda at noon on Tuesday.
Ever since the government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson reached an agreement with Rwanda, from 1 May onwards all immigrants who have arrived illegally in England are kept in solitary confinement in some immigration detention centers.
Last week the English high court rejected the request of some non-governmental organizations which appealed to the court to block the sending of immigrants to Rwanda. But lawyers seeking to block the flight of 30 migrants to Rwanda on Tuesday wasted no time in taking the case to the appellate court.
In the latter Judge Lord Sing upheld the decision of the English High Court to allow asylum seekers to be sent to Rwanda. The appellate judge said the decision previously taken was correct and there was no violation of the law as the appellants alleged.
According to the English Ministry of the Interior, during 2021, 837 Albanians arrived in England through the dangerous boat trip on the English Channel. According to the British Ministry of Justice during 2021, 170 Albanians appeared in court and were convicted as involved in cultivating narcotics at home or rented industrial facilities. Last year, the British Minister of Interior Prit Patel in Tirana signed an agreement with Minister Bledar Çuçi to expedite the deportation of Albanian citizens without a residence permit or when they complete the sentence taken in court for various crimes.
