IKEA, one of the world’s largest furniture retailers, has decided to ban all exports and imports inside and outside Russia and Belarus, and to ban all retail and IKEA industry operations in Russia.
In a press release, the company said IKEA was temporarily suspending operations in Russia and Belarus, with about 17 stores active.
“The war already has a great human impact. It is also resulting in serious disruptions in the supply chain and trading conditions. “For all these reasons, groups of companies have decided to temporarily suspend IKEA operations in Russia,” she said.
IKEA has also provided a 20m-euro donation of humanitarian aid to those forcibly displaced as a result of the conflict in Ukraine.
As a result of these decisions, 15,000 IKEA associates are directly affected, but the latter has provided support to them and their families.
