President Ilir Meta during the communication with the journalists this Friday said that on the day of the violent protest of January 8 he communicated with Belind Këlliçi.
Stressing that he does not take any political side, he said that he advised him that the protest should be peaceful and that Këlliçi told him that nothing of what we saw would happen. Meta emphasizes that violence was used by both parties during the protest.
“I communicated with Belind Këlliç on the day of the protest. I told him to be careful not to touch any car in the yard that it is provocation. An hour before the protest opened, I told him not to lose the peaceful control of the protest, he told me well. “The president is clear, direct, the president condemns the violence and it has been from both sides, this is evident.”, said Meta.
Asked if there were any supporters of the president at the blue headquarters on January 8, he stressed that he condemned the violence used by both sides, calling it a tragic moment in Albanian politics.
“January 8 in my estimation is not an isolated event but a tragic moment of a degrading political process that has been going on for months and years. Its essence is the essence of political confrontation in a transparent manner. When the energies had to be mobilized in accordance with the law, for months we have been witnessing the threat of a free institution, that of the opposition and free voting. I am concerned about the case of escalating unnecessary conflict. Only free voting and respect for the majority should be guaranteed. “The use of force is punishable, they are alarming and demand answers, it is unacceptable to deny the mechanism of revolt, the use of violence, the maintenance of power and buildings at all costs, physical and police means can not be a solution.”, said Meta.
