In Albania, a tailor is paid 60 new lek for an hour of work.
To work in tailoring there is a condition, half of the salary to be thrown in the bank must be returned to the owner.
“I started working in tailoring and at first I was told that the salary was 300 thousand old Lekë, but then they told me the condition of 150 thousand old Lekë I had to return to the owner.
How much did you get paid for an hour of work?
For working hours I received 500-600 old Lekë.
Why did you agree to be paid 60 Old Lekë per hour? Did you have no other alternative?
To leave with this salary because they benefited a lot from the employees.
How many days a week did you rest?
They said it was Sunday, but even on that day they took us out to work until 12:00.
Did the Labor Inspectorate come for control?
They were coming but getting to know the owners and when they asked us questions whatever we said nothing was taken into account.
Why do you quit your job?
Because it was not worth the money anymore, plus I took all the work I got to the physiotherapist.
Although the owners of the tailor shops pay their workers badly, they complain that in our country the labor force has decreased.
The salary of 150 thousand old Lekë has forced many families to leave Albania, with so much money it is impossible to live in a country where even bread is expensive.
