A 102-year-old has come to the aid of Ukrainian refugees who fled their country to escape Russian attacks.
Dabirul Islam Choudhury managed to raise 20 420,000 in aid of them.
On Saturday, he hosted people from all over the world at his home to support Ukrainian refugees and raise money for the Ramadan Family Commitment charity.
Members of the Ukrainian community who have recently been displaced by the Russian occupation held a 102-second silence led by Mr. Choudhury.
Also people from 300 cities around the world, including Bangladesh, Canada, India, Pakistan or Turkey participated online.
Choudhury and members of his community then spoke to refugees about the war in Ukraine.
Speaking to Sky News, Choudhury said he was excited to launch the initiative of keeping silence for people in need and those who have died in war.
“In full support of them. I pray for them. They must stop. They need to understand each other. War will never solve the problemHe said.
“There are a lot of people out there who are without food. There are many people out there who are hungry. There are many people out there who are dying. I want to support them. If you help someone, you will benefit from it. “I want to see people who are arguing need to stop arguing.”he added.
In 102 seconds of silence he said: One minute is nothing!
“I tell humanity to help others and God will help them.”
Choudhury became famous during the pandemic when he raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for COVID-19 victims by walking every day during the month of Ramadan while fasting.
“I thought the crisis was over and the pandemic was over. “I never thought I would see this day when the people of Ukraine are crying and desperately need support.”he said.
