Once the most powerful people in world football, today they are on trial accused of fraud.
“The pain will return and I have difficulty breathing,” the 86-year-old whispered on Wednesday.
Judges at the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona gave Blatter the opportunity to testify this Thursday.
Swiss prosecutors claim that a 2011 payment of 2 million Swiss francs (1.6 million pounds) made by Blatter to Frenchman Platini, former president of the governing body of European football, UEFA, was illegal.
Both deny the breach and say the transfer was a late payment to former France captain Platini, 66, for his work as a FIFA adviser between 1998 and 2002.
The duo were expelled from football in 2015 and sued in November last year.
The trial is set to end on June 22, with the verdict due on July 8. If convicted, defendants could face up to five years in prison or just a fine./Super Sport
