Eleven people have died and 20 are missing after Hurricane ‘Agatha’ hit the Mexican state of Oaxaca yesterday, the governor announced.
The storm hit the earth like a Category 2 hurricane, which is the strongest to hit the Mexican Pacific coast in May, authorities said.
The heavy rains brought by Agatha caused landslides and floods in some areas.

The hurricane came to the Mexican coast near the city of Puerto Ángel with winds of up to 169km / h and then began to lose power as they moved inland.

The mountain villages were hit hardest, as the high area of Santa Catarina de Xanaguía, had suffered major damage, according to authorities.
“Electricity has been cut off, roads have been damaged and some houses have been destroyed,” said local governor Ramos.
The town of Santiago Xanica appealed for help as citizens needed drinking water, clothes and food.
Officials said a main bridge had been destroyed and Santiago Xanica could now only be reached by air. They added that six residents had been killed and 10 were missing.
