Mississippi hunter Doug Borries had chased the nearly five-foot-tall beast while having fun on a private lake in Vancleave, south Florida, USA.
Doug had come out at dawn on the shores of the lake and had finally seen the alligator come out of the water and claims to have shot him in the head from more than 400 feet away.
When the monster was getting closer, Doug says he fired again with a bullet in the forehead from about 250 feet away.
He wrote on Facebook: “I was lucky to hit him fatally at a great distance. “It’s good when you have a good rifle.”
He then with some others pulled the alligator from the bottom of the lake.
Biksha is believed to be about 80 years old and weighed 410 kilograms.
He told Mcclatchy News: “I had no idea how big it was until they pulled it all out of the water. “He is suspected of eating some local cattle and was considered a threat.”
Doug had gone out for deer hunting when he first heard that the alligator had attacked the farm animals.
One of the residents said he remembered the alligator since he was a child. Doug said residents had given him approval to hunt the alligator, out of the problems he had created.
“For me it was a very rare opportunity.”
To make sure he succeeded Borries said he used a specialized approach.
“Most hunters, when they want to kill an alligator, go out in a boat at night with four or five people and hit him on the head with a stick.”
“But I wanted to shoot him as if it were just me and the deer.”
Borries holds 36 U.S. hunting and fishing records.
