Germany has blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for the famine in Africa.
It has strongly condemned Putin’s attempt to create the impression that the West is responsible for causing famine in Africa, according to a foreign ministry spokesman.
“We must emphasize that the fact that there is a risk of famine in some parts of the world, that some countries are banning grain exports, is a consequence of the war of Russian aggression and not Western sanctions,” said the spokesman, according to Sky News.
Meanwhile, a Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman said the increase in German military spending meant the country was being re-militarized and that this would increase security risks.
“We perceive the statement of the German Chancellor (Olaf Scholz) as another confirmation that Berlin has set a course for the accelerated re-militarization of the country. How can this end? “Unfortunately, this is well known from history,” said Maria Zakharova.
