Edible oil according to this customs declaration dated March 11, 2022 has a total cost per liter of 223.9 lek.
The value of the oil per liter is 178.58 lek, the transport cost is 7.75 lek, while the customs duty is 37.57 lek.
So bringing this product in Albania costs the company in this time of crisis almost 224 lek liters. But why do Albanians buy it about 50% more expensive?
Merchant: Passes hand in hand. Everyone wants to earn 5 lek.
But in reality the situation is different. In the absence of control over the big sellers, who from the profit, take the lion’s share, the small sellers are finally forced to increase the prices in the store for the citizens.
“I have 310 lekë. I get it expensive “
“I have 340 lekë. I get 320 lekë. I took it so that I would not miss the store. ”
“Ke vaj? No I did not. It was very expensive. How much do you sell? ”
During this observation, we saw clearly how the price increases, from the wholesalers to the neighborhood shops. The jumps in numbers are scary, especially for the citizens, who at the moment, do not require media shows. They urge the government to ensure transparency, and to punish speculators, who use bombs falling on Kiev to raise the price of oil in Tirana.
