In the February 14th parliamentary elections, Bosniak parties received 7,000 more votes than last time, even in areas where there are no residents of this community.
This fact led to suspicions that the Serbian List interfered in the electoral process for guaranteed seats, in order to control about two-thirds of minority MPs.
The target of the accusations is the initiative of Adriana Hodhii., Which is said to have been helped by the votes of Kosovo Serbs. A group of 49 Kosovo Bosniak civil society organizations reacted by saying they did not accept the result.
“We call on the competent institutions to seriously address these unconstitutional phenomena and to cancel the illegal mandates because they are contrary to the guarantees included in the Constitution of Kosovo”, it is said in the reaction.
The incumbent Prime Minister, Avdullah Hoti, calls this intervention unprecedented, saying that Albanian entities have never tended to interfere in the election of community representatives.
He told Klan Kosova that the relevant institutions and local and international monitors should address this issue.
Representatives of non-majority communities must be elected by the respective communities without any interference, as has been the case in previous legislatures and as defined by the spirit of the constitution. The intervention that clearly seems to have happened in these elections is unacceptable, because it contradicts the principles and spirit of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo “, Hoti declared.
Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic Party of Kosovo said that they are waiting for the certification of the election results to address their reactions.
