In Germany, starting next season, transgender, intersex and unmarried people will be able to choose whether to play football with men’s or women’s teams.
The historic decision promoted by the German Football Association will be integrated into all regulations of amateur, professional and futsal football and stems from the government decision that allows them to register as “different” starting in 2018.
“Everyone should be able to play football: transmitting values through football, promoting diversity, and preventing and eliminating discrimination, even on the basis of gender, is one of the Federation’s objectives. “Football is synonymous with diversity and the DFB is also committed to respecting it.”
