Former longtime internee during the communist regime in Albania, Simon Mirakaj has reacted, after his candidacy as a member of the Authority of the Former State Security Files was rejected this Thursday in the Assembly.
He ironized the action of Enkelejd Alibeaj’s grouping.
“Those deputies of the Alibej group who come from the ranks of the persecuted who voted against me, what can I say to you. They did not have the courage to vote, even though they had made the agreement that the deputies of the Left would vote for me”Mirakaj reacted again.

The Socialists decided to reject Mirakaj’s candidacy after he was proposed to the Assembly with Sali Berisha’s signature.
64 deputies voted against, only 17 in favor and one abstained. The Socialists previously demanded that the proposal come to the Assembly without Berisha’s signature.
They have emphasized that no proposal of ‘non grata’ persons, in this case Berisha, will be accepted in the Assembly.
A few days ago, in the Law Commission, the Socialists voted for the candidacy of Simon Mirakaj to be a member of the authority of the files, although among the supporting firms for his name was that of Sali Berisha.
While the deputies who support the line of Enkelejd Alibeaj clarified earlier that they have nothing against the figure of Simon Mirakaj, but are against the firm that supports him.
