Amazing views recently showed a herd of lions sleeping on the branches of a tree to escape the midday heat in a nature park in Tanzania.
In rare sight the lions were seen sleeping more than 7 meters above the ground in the Serengeti national park in the south of the country.
In one of the views you can see the wonderful African panorama and the acacia tree where the herd takes a nap.
Uganda and Tanzania in East Africa are the only places where you can find lions climbing trees, while in other countries they are known to dislike heights.
Researchers believe this is to escape the heat and insects, as well as to spot their future prey.
And in fact climbing the lion almost 100 kg on the tree can be challenging.
Photographer Hannah Strand, 33, is a tour guide in Africa and has lived there all her life.
Hannah said: “This was the first time we saw the herd climbing the tree, I did not know how they would react to the vehicle so we stayed away and slowly approached them to get used to it.”
“Lions are very impressive cats. “They are not only big and muscular, but the way they interact is amazing to prove.”
“In our outings we explore the surroundings discovering everything that nature has to offer.”
“Lions climbing trees are not a common sight, they are different from tigers and leopards who like to crawl.”
According to the network Discover AfricaTarangire National Park and Manyara Lake in southern Tanzania are the only places where these types of lions are found.
“Lions are believed to learn to climb trees as a form of behavioral adaptation to protect themselves from insect bites. “Some researchers say that they do this to escape the heat, without worrying about what is happening on earth.”
