Relatives of the soldiers who died in Ukraine gave a press conference today to CNN.
One of the stories that touched people the most was a 21-year-old whose boyfriend was killed by Russian forces at the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol. Bilousova said she heard the news of her boyfriend’s death via Instagram and initially did not believe him. She said they had four years dreaming of going to Georgia together and building their lives.
The young woman said that since March 1 she has not received any message from her boyfriend Dmytro Chornyi, but she continues to write messages every day on ‘Whatssap’, although she does not receive any response.
The 21-year-old named Nicol, attended the conference with her 5-year-old nephew, Kirill, in her lap. She, her nephew and sister spent five days fleeing from Mariupol to Zaporizhia, where she explained that she walked two days and spent one night in a church to hide from Russian attacks.
Although her boyfriend of the same age has passed away, she refuses to believe him and says that he always told her that things would go well.
“We were very good friends. He was a wonderful, kind man. He loved the boys he fought with. He often told me not to worry, that everything would be fine. “I do not feel anything now.” she said.
She had received fewer and fewer messages from him. The last time they sent a message was on May 8th.
“I believe and hope that this is a mistake, that he is alive.” she said.
