Emergency crews were searching today for a missing helicopter between the Tuscan and Emilia Romagna regions with seven people on board.
The privately owned helicopter had taken off yesterday from Capannori Lucca airport and was due to arrive at its destination in Treviso in northeastern Italy within an hour.
But the vehicle unfortunately disappeared from the radars and officials sounded the alarm.
Search operations in the Tuscany area were forced to stop yesterday in the west and resumed this morning, reports the local daily La Stampa.
The helicopter was reportedly being used by a company known as Roto Court, which produces hygiene products and household chemicals.
Company director Giuliano Gelain told ANSA he believed the helicopter had not crashed, as they had not received any alarm signals. He added that the vehicle flew almost daily to send and bring important customers.
The vehicle had on board the Italian pilot, four Turkish citizens and two Lebanese.
The local daily Reggio reported that an emergency landing may also have been carried out in remote areas.
