The former head of the Tirana Municipal Police, Florenc Hoxha, along with 9 other people, is suspected to have been one of the main people who would defend in case of danger on January 8 the building of the PD headquarters from the supporters of the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

Also, from the same file, it is learned that the local police directorates in the regions have brought data on operational roads for groups that would travel towards the city of Tirana, in order to participate in the rally that would take place on January 8, with suspicion that they might be involved in violent acts.
The Democratic Party headquarters was violently attacked on January 8 by supporters of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who responded to his call to take control of the building where Democratic leader Lulzim Basha and other party leaders were staying.
Initially the main door of the headquarters was forcibly opened, before 12.00 which was the time at which the protest was called. Its windows were broken but protesters stopped in the hallway, where they were apparently found in front of other iron-reinforced doors.

Supporters of former Prime Minister Berisha tried to enter from different directions. An attempt by several people to climb the stairs to the second floor, on a balcony on the left side, was repulsed by several people from inside the building. One of the protesters was wounded in the head. Other attempts were also repulsed, with tear gas being used from inside the headquarters.
The situation at the Democratic Party headquarters calmed down after the police intervened at the request of the deputies inside it who had stated that they felt threatened by the violent attack of the supporters of the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Special units took control of the building. The yard and the whole surrounding area were emptied, after the use of tear gas.
Berisha, for his part, spoke of “a criminal intervention” by the police, stating afterwards that what happened “is only the first page of an unstoppable movement.” During the day, foreign diplomatic missions condemned the violence.
Recall that security measures for the 34 detainees of the violent protest of January 8 are expected to be given tomorrow at 10:00.
