The murder took place in a bar in the center of Rrëshen, a few meters from the police station, where the victim, Saimir Jaku, had gone to drink a coffee. According to eyewitnesses, the masked perpetrators were two armed men, where one of them got out of the Benz type vehicle and fired a volley of automatic weapons at Saimir Jaku. The latter died instantly from the bullets that pierced several parts of his body. In that event, citizen Gjergj Prenga, 50, from Rrësheni, who was drinking coffee with the victim at the time of the event, was also injured.
