Half of Europeans will be infected with the coronavirus, the WHO chief for Europe, Hans Kluge, said on Tuesday.
According to him, the infections will occur during the next two months, being transmitted to the vaccinated or those who have passed the covidium.
“Today Omikron represents a new wave from east to west. at this rate it is predicted that more than 50% of Europe’s population will be infected with omicron in the next 6 to 8 weeks. it is rapidly becoming the dominant variant in Western Europe and is now spreading to the Balkans as welln ”, said Hans Kluge.
However, according to Kluge, the vaccine remains the best protection against death, or serious illness even in the case of omicron infection. Worldwide so far 5.5 million people have lost their lives to covid 19.
