Greece will start using the “Molnupiravir” pill developed by the American pharmaceutical company Merck against the new coronavirus COVID-19.
The Deputy Minister of Health of Greece, Mina Gaga, said that the drug can reduce the number of patients in intensive care and said that it can now be used by patients at the request of doctors on the relevant digital platform.
The drug, which will have a similar use to that of monoclonal antibodies, will not be used for pregnant women.
Patient consent will be required for the use of the drug, which has not yet been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
If the doctor gives permission for use, the medicine will be sent to the patients home.
